New from Stéphanie's Achilles tendon...

I’m back in Lyon. I went directly to the hospital (I’m presently testing their wifi). I will have an operation tomorrow afternoon, then 6 weeks with a specific boot. I hope that everything will be ok after that.

I would like to THANK YOU all for your help and your kindness, especially the FANTASTIC organising committe !!!!!

Personal quick presentation with QR Barcode

July 9th, 2009

It would be interesting for conferences, schools and others meetings to create our own personal QR Barcode, pointing on a personal web page, to present our self.

If we have all a QR Barcode on our card, and the application to read them in our mobile, it become easier to know and remember the work of every one.

In this way check the “Summer School Tools” (http://3s-cms.enstb.org/mlearning09/?p=133),

use one of the three applications directly on your mobile device to read QR Barcode and/or to create yours :

=> Quickmarks

=> Neoreader

=> Kaywa

More Examples of Ontology-Based Context Models

July 8th, 2009

The Personal Information Management area presents several examples of successful use of ontology-based context models, which can be inspiring for the Technology-Enhanced Learning community:

– One approach that is almost considered as a classic now is the PIMO (Personal Information Model Ontology) [1], which has been developed within the NEPOMUK project (http://nepomuk.semanticdesktop.org). It is used to represent the user’s concepts, such as projects, tasks, contacts, organizations.

– At the Know-Center (http://en.know-center.at), we are developing the UICO (User Interaction Context Ontology) [2]. Starting from low-level interactions captured from her desktop (such as key strokes and mouse clicks) while the user is interacting with various applications and documents, we automatically populate this context model. We then try to detect the user’s task in order to support her work. We have shown that using an ontology-based context model improves the accuracy of task detection algorithms.

– A framework allowing to combine multiple ontologies has also been developed at the University of Illinois [3].

Auchan Presentation

A little word to Brest 2009 Summer school :

Here is the document I presented you on Monday evening.

I add a document realized at the beginning of the year, resuming the project situation. This a good complement.

I hope you enjoyed this moment. I think what you lived that evening is more important than what is written in this powerpoint (which is just a powerpoint).
And I also hope that interactions we made with post-it and so on will help you to think about pedagogical interactions before technical possibilities.
