Context Aware and Adaptation

Course 2: Context-awareness  and dynamic adaptation: model implementation (A. Bouzeghoub,  Telecom & Mangement SudParis, S. Garlatti, Telecom Bretagne)

Context-awareness could turn about four questions: 1) capture of the contextual variables; 2) normalisation and exchanges of them, perhaps through shared models based on ontology; 3) dedicated software architectures for managing dynamic contexts and/or context-as-construct; 4) finally better formalisms for managing adaptation of services according to learner needs and its current context.

Mobile learning is not just about learning using lightweight devices, but learning across context and is best viewed as mediating tools in the learning process. Some issues are as follows: combination of formal (at school) and informal (outdoor, at home, at workplace etc.) learning, integration of mobile devices in broader educational scenarios, combination of collaborative, mobile learning and inquiring learning, context-as-construct and seamless learning across different contexts.
